Grand Theatre of Sanshui: A Lotus-Inspired Architectural Marvel

Basic Concept (Perceptron Design Group) Crafts a Cultural Landmark in Foshan City

The Grand Theatre, located in Hexiang Lake, the core area of Sanshui New Town, is a new cultural landmark of Sanshui City. Its architectural appearance and interior design are of high standards, reflecting the city's cultural richness. The design elements are extracted from the lotus, resulting in an aesthetic that is both elegant and symbolic of the city's identity.

The theatre's unique properties lie in its innovative design and construction. The designers have created a perfect acoustic environment by building an acoustic relationship among wood veneer, wall, and floor. The carpeting eliminates noise, striking a balance between acoustics and aesthetics. This attention to detail sets the Grand Theatre apart from other architectural designs.

The project, spanning over 5000 square meters and three stories, was realized from February 2016 to June 2019. The design team, led by Zhide Liang, worked diligently to integrate traditional culture and modern design, creating a space that is both functional and artistically inspiring.

Despite the challenges, the team adhered to their design concept of "advocating nature, respecting tradition, tracing back to the origin and being creative". They explored the traditional culture combined with the conception of natural prospect, creating a cultural business card of spatial aesthetics for Foshan.

The Grand Theatre of Sanshui has been recognized for its design excellence, winning the Golden A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2020. This prestigious award is granted to marvelous, outstanding, and trendsetting creations that reflect the designer's prodigy and wisdom, embodying extraordinary excellence and significantly impacting the world with their desirable characteristics.
